Dr. Thomas is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has been practicing in the Fredericksburg area since 2005. Dr. Thomas is originally from Philadelphia, Pa. She went on to complete her medical education in India. Following return to the US she completed a three year Adult Psychiatry Residency at Wake Forest University-Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. This was followed by a 2 year Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship program at the Institute of Living-Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT, where she served as Chief Resident of the Program in her 2nd year. Dr. Thomas has completed Board certifications in Adult Psychiatry in 2006, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in 2009.
Her extensive experience has included Acute Inpatient hospital settings, Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Programs, Community Mental Health Centers, as well as Outpatient Private Practice. Dr. Thomas’ current focus of practice is Outpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She provides evidence-based assessment and treatment of children and adolescents for the most effective care. Dr. Thomas’ approach to treatment is based on biological, psychological, and social aspects of development and its effect on current functioning. She provides initial diagnostic assessments and ongoing medication management treatment planning.
Dr. Thomas works collaboratively with Psychologists at the practice, in addition to community providers and School faculty, to provide integrated care for the patient and family.
